Hello Maryland FRC teams,
The DC senior mentor, Don Brobst, and team 1418 have organized a series of workshops for the DC teams on December 8th and he would like to extend an invitation to the Maryland teams. It will be held at George Mason High School in Falls Church, VA from 7:45 AM until 4:00 PM. The cost is $10 per person (which covers breakfast and lunch). If your team is interested, please have one adult register your team here.
Bag and Tag Exemptions
The deadline to apply for a Bag and Tag exemption is December 7th. Those teams who may be traveling to events and need to ship their robots for whatever reason need to submit a request to FIRST to email@example.com. Your request should include as much detail as possible to support why an exemption is required. The subject line should be “Bag and Tag Exemption Request, Team XXX.” If you have any questions, let me know.
Initial Event Registration
The deadline for teams to pay their initial event registration is December 7th. Payment terms and methods to submit payments are outlined here. If your team foresees issues in getting your payment in on time, please let me know.
SAIC Funding Reminder
SAIC is providing funding for teams that have mentors who are employees of SAIC. The deadline to apply for that funding is November 27th. If you have any questions on the application process, please have your SAIC mentor contact me directly.
The AndyMark website has made the FIRST Choice items available for viewing. Starting December 10th at 12:01 AM EST, teams will be able to order items using the password assigned to your team in TIMS. Take some time to look over the items and discuss within your team what items you would like to order.
Remember that you will not know what this year’s game is at the time you are making your order. Teams can choose to keep their credits until after kickoff but items are first come first served so many will go quickly and may not be available in January. Based on the FIRST blog, items found in FIRST choice should be FRC legal for this year. If that’s the case, since the Talon speed controller is included, it should be legal for the 2013 competition season.
